Hi Guys,

Got three really nice dwarf cichlids over the weekend and on sunday i fed them frozen brine shrimp which they loved, on mondy i tried them with jbl dry cichlid food and they didn't eat a thing. Just been to a LFS near work and got some frozen bloodworms and some frozen cichlid food, but i also asked the guy in there and he's recommended for me to try "New Era" discus pellets.

Just wondering what everyone else feeds them and what you have tried if you have some fussy feeders?

cheers

Andy

Never heard of it mate, but then again I haven't got discus.

What dwarf cichlids have you got? All mine feed on tetra prima and love it.

I've got 3 Apistogramma Agassizi (a male and 2 female's).

It says on new era's website:

"A complete well-balanced diet for Discus.

Discus Pellets incorporate all the necessary dietary components to promote vibrant colour and support health and vigour.
Benefits:

Manufactured using high quality Bloodworm for
greater palatability
High protein promotes growth
Vibrant colours
Improved water quality

"

From what i can see from the web site it looks like a smaller version of their Cichlid pellets American.

Just after options incase they dont like this either. I can't complain as i'm a fussy eater as well, just dont want to be giving them frozen food constantly.

cheers

Andy

Tetra prima will be ideal for them as it sinks. Incorporate live food twice a week too.

Cheers Minnnt,

If this fails i've got enough fronzen food to last a few weeks so i'll go on the hunt for that Tetra prima at weekend.

When you say live food, do you mean frozen, or are you actually getting live Bloodworms/brine shrimp for them? If so what do you use and more importnatly where do you get it from as the shop i got them from and also the one near work both dont stock live food.

Sorry for so many questions,

Cheers

Andy

You can get prima (not tetra) on ebay for very decent prices, its lasted agesssss. Been feeding my apistos and rams it, along with my angel and tetras

I have a few samples of the New Era flakes, they're good, they smell like they are nutricious if that makes sense LOL, but they do need to be broken up a bit, pretty large flakes, no comment for the pellets though...

I dont feed any sort of live food, I dont see the need. Frozen is fine

i am using the new era , american cichlid pellets , all my fish are to small to take a full pellet , as they are very soft i cut them up and they love them , also got the new era plec pellets very oily and soft !! quite impressesd :good:
