Hi all, just a quick question. I have a male HM , I have had him for a while, but I have noticed he is not taking flake very readily, he eats blood worm and other live foods, but I want to vary his diet. :good:
So what do you feed yours?
is mine just a picky eater?

Thanks Westwood. :santa:

Hikari Betta Bio Gold, Tetra Prima, Bloodworm and Brine Shrimp.

He likes the Hikari pellets the best though :good:

Hikari Betta Bio Gold, Tetra Betta, Live Bloodworm (when I can get hold of it, otherwise frozen) and a shelled pea every Sunday :good:

TetraMin tropical flakes, Tetra betta flakes, Lovefish tropical pellets, King British algae waffles and live daphnia, sometimes live bloodworm and fruit flies.

Feeding mine discus pellets atm, occasional pea's and frozen foods (would never feed bettas freeze dried foods, i found out the hard way, still soaked them but bettas being greedy buggers found him pretty much popped, lesson learnt.)

Mine gets whatever the others in his tank are getting. So flake food, granule food, frozen bloodworm, algae wafers, frozen mysis shrimp, dried tubifex worms, peas, whatever!

My boy gets Nutrafin Max Small Tropical Fish Micro Granules because he's fussy and wont touch anything else, my girls get the same as everyone else in the tank - tetra pro colour and hikari algae wafers.

Mine get Atisons Beta pro pellets, live mosquito larva (as my horse water trough produces an almost endless amount of them in spite of it's getting drained and refilled every third day...which are hands down their Very favorite) also they get "Scuds" (gammaru amphipods: http://www.fcps.edu/islandcreekes/ecology/scud.htm ) that they hunt out of the java moss on water change days. They LOVE hunting in the Java moss, it's like watching kids stampedeing toward the tree on Xmas morning when I add a new batch in!

My 5 girls, my HM boy & my VT boy get: Omega One Betta Buffet Pellets, frozen bloodworms, and the occasional pea.

My CT boy will only eat Top Fin Betta Bits. Little devil turns his nose up at ANYTHING else--even higher quality foods

Wow, I check back and its got LOADS of posts! Thanks all for the advice! :hyper:
Have ordered Hikari Betta Bio Gold, hopefully he will tuck into this! :good:
Going to try a pea as well to see if he likes those!

Thanks! :santa:

I'd suggest that if you feed peas, squeeze the pea out of its skin (after cooking it a little of course) and kind of mash it up in your fingers or with a fork or whatever. My betta likes peas but he ignores them once they've sunk to the bottom - if they're crumbled up they float for longer :)
