I AMGETTING 45 GALLON TANK IN A MONTH RIGHT NOW I HAVE A 29 GALLON AND I WAS WONDERIN IF I SHOULD ADD N E MORE FISH
I HAVE :

(1)4 INCH MANAGUA/JAGUAR CICHLID(FAVORITE)
(1)2 INCH CONVICT CICHLID(COMMON)
(1) GREEN SEVERUM/BANDED CICHLID(UNBELEIVABLE BEAUTIFUL)
(1)2 INCH FIREMOUTH CICHLID(COMMON)

I do not c as to y u should not get any more cichlids, but i would wait till u got ur 45 gallon first and after itss cycled..

I don't think that with these fish you should add any . The FM and Sev alone in the 45 maybe. The Jag is going to need at least a 75g by itself. And if you keep all these guys together, get ready to say good-bye sooner rather than later because that Jag will end up killing them. Jags are way to aggressive for the FM and the Sev. The Con might be ok, but even thats still risky. I would leave the Con in the 29g. Move the FM and Sev to the 45 and get at least a 75g and put the Jag in there or take him back.

I totally agree with missy.

75g minimum for 1 mananguense. That's even pushing it.

And nothing else will live in it tho. Whether you want them to or not. It won't be your choice.

Well, why do you think we have no clue as to what we're talking about and are dumb and way out of our league? What exactly are we wrong about? If you think a mananguense is any different than described, then that's on you if you don't want to learn. Anyone in their right mind knows you can't put a guapote with others in such small confines, let alone a 45g tank! A 125g tank is a MINIMUM for a mananguense to live with any other fish without him liquidating them. Even in that small of a tank I wouldn't give a good chance for anything else to survive of like size. Maybe a festae will take him out but a male festae grows to 18-19"!

The point I'm trying to make is not more than 1 cichlid will survive and none in that list you provided even stands a chance at all to live. What is wrong with the advice missy and I gave? She was absolutely 100% correct and I totally back her up and agree with her.

So I'm guessing you are saying that working in a fish store for 5 years and have 15 years into the hobby equates to any type of intelligence? I didn't know years spent in the hobby meant someone was smarter? That's a first for me thinking that.

Well, since you've brought it up and think years spent in the hobby=intelligence, (which it by no means does) I've got 27 years into the hobby. So if we go by your ideals....I guess you got 12 years of learnin' to do to catch up.


Why are we wrong? I like to learn also from others but I can't when I am only being told I'm an idiot and not told why I'm so stupid. Care to elaborate and help us all with your great expertise?


BTW, if you are only here to start threads and troll, just leave now and save us all the headache. If a member here posts something that you don't agree with, you will not attack them and call them names again in the future. We are here to help people and not defend ourselves when we all are honestly trying to help someone with a perceived problem. (of which you didn't have but wanted to start something here for the sake of seeing if other members here met your expertise)

I don't want people not posting anymore because they are afraid of being called names because someone else thinks they are wrong. This forum isn't about that and I won't let it become that.

Is a guy who has spent his whole life sweeping the floors of a wood store for a living a master carpenter ? No he isnt, he is nothing but the guy who sweeps the wood shavings off the floors. Working in a pet store for 5 years dosent mean you know anything about fish, just that someone was good enough to give you a job even though you have a very bad attitude.
If you dont like the good advice you recieve here then dont ask the questions in the first place, you are the kind of member we can do without.
