I know this may sound a bit strange, but I like the cleanup crew (and those shrimp  ) more than I do the fish, so would I need as much equipment as a normal marine tank?

Thanks

you could get away without a skimmer and just use normal T8 tubes if you kept up the water changes, you could probably have a small tank bred clownfish with them as they are about the hardiest fish.

You would still be looks at about £150-£250 for a simple small basic setup

Any marine tank can be 'high maintenance' potentially....even FOWLR tanks or plain invert tanks can get cyanobacteria or hair algae..but..without corals it is MUCH easier to manage. SH

The lighting is less important without corals. A plain strip light would be fine in a FOWLR tank. You could always upgrade your lighting later if you decided to 'go reef'. SH
