Right i want to set up a marine tank but dont know what i need.

Can i use a normal clearseal tank? Its about 60L?
The things i know i need are:

Proteine skimmer
Heater
Lighting

What else do i need hardware wise?

Cheers, Joemuz

Well Joemuz, I'd suggest starting by reading through the stickies atop this section and the nano section to give you some ideas of what you need. That's a pretty small tank and you'll be limited in your stocking of it, so just remember that :).

Are you planning on a FO (fish only), FOWLR (fish only with live rock), or a reef setup? If you do plan on using such a small tank, a skimmer is not required, but powerheads for flowrate are :)

I had a look but just wanted a simple list as i get easily mixed up :S
Does live rock sort of grow things on it, mature is a better word for it?
Could i keep a few clown fish and a purple fire fish with a few inverts?

Change of plan, make it 89L :)

Cheers, Joemuz

That's about 22-23 us gallons, so I'd go with 1 clown, 1 firefish, maybe one other small fish and then your clean-up crew (snails, hermits, etc). You don't want to keep a group of clowns unless you have a much larger tank. You may could get away with a mated pair, though. A pair of clowns and then a firefish should fill it up nicely.
You'll still only need the power head, not really a skimmer (unless you just want it).

Yeah, you could do a clownfish pair, a purple firefish, and some inverts in that tank.

That is spot on!
So what do i need ?

heater
lighting
powerhead

And do i use the same type of filter as i would in a tropical tank?

Cheers, Joemuz

if you were to run a filter your'd want a external more just take out the foam, replace with rowaphos, carbon and perhaps polyfilter :)

heater
lighting
powerhead x2 always best to have 2 :D
and live rock for filtration

for a cheaper option than a skimmer get a berlin lift skimmer, you need an airpump and an airstone the berlins are done by prsim i think and go for about 30-40, airpump about a tenner and airstone + piping about 5 pounds.
