What Did I End Up With?

So, I won an auction for a 5x7 piece of java moss on aquabid, and the seller (name witheld, for now) finally sent me a little ball of green a fraction of the size of what was promised.

However I'm pretty sure this isn't java moss.....anyone hazard a guess as to what it is i've ended up with?

Looks like some kind of.. clover plant or somthing, and pieces of gras... was this picture not on the big when you first saw it.. I dunno plant it see if it grows well.. and make a complaint to the guy

There's the auction, with a picture that I presumed indicated what I was getting.

The guy's fed me quite a line about packages getting returned multiple times (note when the auction ended) which I MIGHT have been inclined to believe had the actual item i bid on arrived today.


BTW the picture I posted is one i took myself of the product upon its reciept today.

to me it looks like a pretty shook up emersed growth up Hemianthus micranthemoides... i might be wrong though but that does not look anything like java moss.. the only resemblance would be the green, maybe it got mixed up

*ps are those strands of hair grass in there ? im guessing this is a mix up

I've already fired off a "WTF" email to the seller; if I don't see a tracking number in the next 2 days with what I actually paid for, he's getting a complaint on aquabid and I plan on initiating a report on paypal to try and get my money back.

The picture on the auction is java moss so they cant very well argue with the fact that you havent got what you paid for unless it has been a mix up Id be livid......keep us posted on what he says, if they dont sort it out its easy to get revenge if you have their e-mail address (Whoo ha ha ha ha)

As far as I can see it's Micranthemum micranthemoides. I have some in my tank but I can't get it to grow. Definitely not java moss in any case.

Could be Hemianthus callitrichoides or HC its hard to tell, if it is, and you are in the US, its a very expensive plant to buy much more expensive than Java Moss, but there again you asked for Java Moss.

Awful, I feel really bad for you having been in similar situations myself countless times. I would just put pressure on the seller to either get a refund or proper goods. But give a bit more time than 2 days as they may not be able to check their mail etc, I try and be flexible in these situations.

I bought some off that site and it looks really simmilar...

If your from the uk, try getting some plants there dead cheap and exellent service!
