What type of fish can I put in my 29 gallon with sand substrate and rock decorations? It's freshwater. I don't want to over-crowd my tank or spend over over $10.00 per fish. I was thinking smaller cichlids, but I am also interested in what other fish I can put in it. It will be for decoration mainly. Thanks!

No, but I will shortly this week.

If it's for decoration, I wouldn't suggest puffers as I normally would, I dunno maybe ask in other subjects aswell, mind you, oddballs are generally hard to look after. I think cichilids are too. Plus, some fish have just too much personality to put in a maily decoration tank!!!

If you've got a few greens (money) to spare, I would seriously consider getting some Shell-Dwellers. Lamprologous Oscellatus are the ones I'd love to get next.

Here's a beautifully coloured little fish that likes hiding/living in snail shells. They're a fish with character and won't let any others from bullying it.

Here's a link.....

However, please make sure you've got the right size tank and water conditions.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks everyone! I'll probably look into both shell dwellers and cichlids. Anyone know of any smaller cichlid types? Thanks again!

P.S. Are clown loaches easier fish to look after? If so I will also look into them.

Clown loaches are easy, but shell dwelling cichlids from Lake Tanganyika like the occelatus, the hequi, lamprologus brevis, multifasciatus, are all easily kept, and are a BLAST to watch! give em some sand, some shells, and good foods and theyre so cool to keep.

Clown loaches deffinatly!! I would go for 3 clown loaches and some cichlids :)

Maybe Kribensis or lyretail or some other dwarf cichlids :)
