I am looking for some bushy, medium height plants (8" high) that are colorful and good oxygen producers. Perhaps something that pearls easily.
I have very good conditions but never see pearling.
PH 6.7 constantly with CO2 injection, Kh 4 Gh 5
Flora Base substrate 2+ inches deep.

Suggestions requested.

The plants I have now are doing well but I never see pearling.

Thanks
Bob

Well, Bob, if this helps, I have a heavily planted tank, but no CO2 yet. I've recently nudged up the lighting to 2wpg, and notice that there is now pearling on anacharis and hornwort, but only in the top half of the tank. Also, I've got a marimo ball perched on a rock, about half-way up the tank, and it pearls a bit, too.

Sounds like you've got excellent CO2 levels. The tank looks kind of tall, though. How large is that tank, and what kind of light is that over it? (I'm not very good at scale in pictures :)).

The thing with pearling is this. When you see it you know that all the CO2, trace elements and what not is all in balance. This is what we try to achieve with our planted tanks. Pearling is basically a good way for us to know when our planted tanks are in perfect balance.

However If you look in one of my tanks the plants are not pearling but the algae is. I don't have a clue as to why...lol. Just something silly that happens to my tank once in a blue moon. Only lasts for a couple days then the plants go back to pearling.

I have 74w of compact flourescents which equates to about 3.7w per gallon. Height of tank is 16"
Volume is 23g

Thanks
Bob

Bob, I see no reasons why your plants shouldn't be pearling. Try adding any of the following :riccia, Potamogeton, fern, anubias, lotus, crypts, or rotala (this is in no way a comprehensive list).

The plants I have pearling 95% of the time are Wisteria and Java Moss, everynow and then I see it on my big sword plant too.... Maybe try Wisteria in there, just keep it trimmed back as it becomes a jungle quik with lots of light.
