The things that are growing off my java ferns (i think that's what they are, i always forget thier name). Can i replant them or something? I've included lots of pics.
I shrunk the pics down a bit, sorry about the size.
I guess that's what they are, plantlets. They basically have bene growing off the ends of the java ferns for a while, and they're getting pretty big.
How do i plant them? I know with java ferns they aren't supposed to be planted in the substrate, right? So do i tie the plantlets together or something after i pull them off?
i still plant them, i just bury the roots, and make sure the rhizome is above the substrate and mine have done great. i've heard some people say not to plant them and to tie them on to something, but mine have done just fine.
either plant the roots as longhorn13 said or you can tie 10 or so to bogwood with cotton thread. after a few months the roots will attach to the wood giving you a very usefull "moveable" plant.
you have enough for a few tanks by the look of it. i have just gone through the same process.
in the Pic below both the pieces of bogwood have 20 or so Java Fern plantlets tied onto them. (pic taken 1 week after tieing them on)
