Have had my tank for 2 years now, and over the past 6-8 months algea growth has increased. Have a Juwel Vision 240 with the standard Multilux led 120. Lights are on from 1500 - 2200 hrs every day. I cover the tank every night with plastic table cloth, so there is no light in the meantime.
Thinking back, the imbalance likely began when i started to reduce the amount of number of topwater plants (Salvinia minima - which supposedly should have a positiv effect on water quality), because i thought they were blocking light to my bottom plants, especially my background plants which were strugling to survive at the time.
I also added to small extra growing lights. As to water changing I have since the beginning only changed abt 15% every month ... 3 months ago i removed the extra growing lights, which apparently have had no effect on the algea issue. Have decided to try to change water more frequently and larger quantities, so started yeasterday with changing 40% water.
But think it could also be a great help to know what kind of algea im battling so hope its possible to identify from below to pics, ie the algea on the front glass (pic 1) and the algea on the plants (pic 2). Pic 1 is before yeasterdays waterchange and before i cleaned the front glass
