What Algae Eater

Any other types dont really like them and there to big for me

im not going to lie, bn's look ugly in pictures

but when you see one in person like i did today

i was like

and this is more of a catfish question, plus if you go to the catfish section they have a list of plecos under 8 inches

mamafish is right, don't be to picky, the pickier the more expensive

cruncher - what size tank do you have and what do you want to put the algae-eater in with? There are other options besides plecs but it depends on what you have. Even if it has to be a plec, it need not be a bristlenose but you'd probably be better off asking in the catfish section for mroe detailed answers.

Hi in my tank i have 2 yellow labs dont know the name of the other two 1 is all orange like the lab and the other is like a sliver blue and black striped with a yellow tail and a pimelodus pictus catfish. The tank size is 40x15x15

If you want the best algae eater its the bn , if you want something with a bit of colour try the golden sucking loach.

IMHO
L27a, L27b & L27c plecos (the royal group) are by far the best algae eating pleco

Hi ok i went and brought 2 bn yesterday and woke up today to find one had died are u sure these are fine with cichlids.

Sorry to hear your pleco died.

I'm not pleco expert, but I think plecos need acid water to survive, while your African cichlids need basic water.

I don't know of any algae eating fish that likes basic water, but I'm sure there must be some.
