What Algae Eater Is This?

was hoping to buy some Otto's, phoned up the shop to check stock availability and was told they had them in stock. Mother-in law arrived at shop and they didn't have Otto's but the fish in the images and told they are algae eaters and grow to about 3 inch. I'd like to know what they are please.

They look Chinese algae eaters, FYI they can get up to 10 inches long

Do you have any other fish in the tank? They will eventually grow to become aggressive and stop eating algae, IME.

So obviously the aquatic store staff know #29### all? They are selling and advertising them as growing 3 inch. When the mother-in law asked the staff member the name of the fish, all he could tell her was that they are algae eaters, brilliant!!!

Should I get rid of them?

CAE for sure, yes take them back, Get more otos as they are better kept in groups. If possible also add some more of whatever tetra you have as they also do better the more there are.
