There have been a huge amount of entries to all the competitions this month,so each heat will be taken in turn to prevent blocking up the pics forum and to give people a chance to vote in all of them. If they were all there together I'm not sure some would take the length of time it takes to view and vote in all of them

Are we just nominating too many pics? As the community grows, perhaps it'd be a good idea to set down some basic standards for nomination? I like the informal nature of things, but I'd hate for it to become a burden on the forum or the folks running it!

There are a few problems here, if we shorten the nominating period, that means more competitions, which is a huge amount of work. If we limit the period of time for nominations without more competitions, people will only post pics in the few weeks that people can nominate.

We are working on a system whereby people can only nominate maybe two pics each month, this will hopefully prevent people nominating all over the place as it is leading to a few headaches, chasing up each nomination. Some people are putting forward pics that are not of their fish, or posting in the nominations thread when no nominations, or just one were recieved. This slows things down too

On a another forum I visit you enter your pics for the contest then the mods select a certain # of pics (10 or so ) and then everyone votes, it seems to work allright . Don't know if that's more work for the mods?

or maybe have it where you yourself can submit 1 pic that goes into a nomination thread? most people will vote more than one persons fish for BOM consideration just out of friendliness (which is cool of course, this is the friendliest forum around after all ) but if the owner wants to be considered he or she can then choose the fish pic and no one feels left out if their fish is not nominated. just an idea, i think the moderators have a huge job every month and i salute their efforts whatever direction they go

There are some good ideas here - like the two nominations per member and the one fish for consideration per member too.

I agree with the one fish per member, that would cut down on a lot of entires.

By the time voting is done for this month, we won't have time to have a contest for April.
