hi im setting up a 45 gallon tank and i wanan put in a wet dry filter but i dunno which one to get. I know both of the ones in the links are for 75 gallons but i oculdnt find them smaller. Also there alot of LFS here and its almost the same thing with them but still a little cheaper online. i dont know what to choose maybe im looking at the wrong filters?

im going for a reef tank with more fish than reef. the lights are my next upgrade so if anyone wants to throw some hints in for that it would be great ^_^

is this an in tank wet/dry? or are you buying a sump?

if those(ebay links) are what you want to buy for your tank and the demensions fit up to the back of your tank then it should work.

check out your local fish store to see if they sell wet/dry's those are pretty expensive for being a bakpak type system. You could get a system like that from CPR Bakpak2 system (60 gal). Check them out, its what i use on my brothers tank... works great.

its not in tank. so i guess i need a sump which i dunno what that is.

its a salt water tank so they told me to stay away from those ehiems or whatever.

i really dunno what to buy :/ i looked at the backpack system its small ? i though this wet dry had to go in under my tank.

But again im a newb i just dunno what to get. Also id rather spend more than less if it means that my tank will be healthier. Id really like to eventually put a anenaame. but i know they are super fragile.

yes bakpak system is small but serves the same purpose as the one in those links. Those one in those links look like they hang on the back of the tank. Just like the Bakpak2 system. The back pak two system has a mechanical filter with plastic element. Simlar to that of the bio-balls in that one on e-bay. All though it has less mechanical filteration surface area it should be suffiecent for your 50 gal. It also comes with a protein skimmer. I got mine for $110

Here is a link to the sump system I wold recomend.

All you need is a pump. The models you linked to have built in skimmers, but look like they are air driven and would not be as efficient as some other models you could get a good deal on.

If you are going to have live rock, you don't need the bio balls either.

If you do not have your tank set up yet, I would strongly recommend getting it drilled at a reputeable glass shop. It is inexpesive, and it eliminates the need for siphon overflow boxes. Look at virtually the same system without the overflow and not the price difference at this link

i was reading the auctions i linked to again and it says complete setup. that foesnt matter though i was wondering why i didnt need bio balls if i was going to have live rock.

Also i wanted to know i fi could buy live rock w/o having metal hialiades i know that for actual coral i need the metal hailiades but wasnt sure about live rock ;)

If you just have Live rock and Fish you will not need MH lights.
