Were Can U Get Turtles From And Information About Them?

Look for a place that sells reptiles (petshop rather than fish shop) or deals in Herpetology (the study of reptiles). Perhaps look in the newspaper or online for reptile societies in your area and go to a meeting. Ring a few shops and ask if they can get turtles in for you. Many shops have access t them but don't always carry unusual stuff.

thanks whats the smallest turtle u can keep in a tank, which is obtainable?
and what size tank would be needed?

This is my little razorback musk turtle. currently it is only a couple of inches long and wont grow bigger than 5-6 inches. probably one of the smallest aquatic turtles you can get

Here is my other musk turtle (Common musk) This one is also really small and lives in the same tank as my razorback musk. the get on really well and come out of the water quite often during the day together. you can see it eating a reptomin stick

I would reccomend you have a look at this thread:

As a short list they need:

basking spot - 30-35C (varies with species)
UVB lighting minimum 5.0% output
docking station
filter double tank size at least (turtles poo is much heavier and lager than fisshes)
measure turt shell and times by 40 to give minimum tank size, each additional turt times their shell lenght by 20.

this is a good site on turtles: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/

Musk turtles arnt always advised for beginners.
1. there nickname is the stinkpot turtle and can produce fowl smelling substancs when threatnd.
2 They are les sociable with there owners and more intollerable with there own specie than other species usually being fairly aggressive towards thm (biting..etc)
Before someone tells me all turtles bite, out of all the turtle species ive kept; softshells, muss and snappers are the most aggressive.

I'd prefer to gowith something like a mississippi map
Graptemys pseudogeographica.
Males get around 6 inch max, females 10-12 inches max. Though usualy smaller
Not very aggressive, active and can be very personal.
Romeo, my male map can balance himself from one foot to another in orderto get treats.

here is a care sheet.
