Rough summary of yesterday and today:
- Got a little bit of salt crust up under my wedding ring and didn't find out about it for most of a day until my finger started burning. :shout:
- Can't put my left hand in tanks now because there is a fun little raw band around a certain finger.
- Had a HOTB filter motor blow out on me (ok it was subjected to 15 years of continuous use, but whatever...I liked that filter)
- All LFSs within reasonable and even slightly unreasonable ranges seem to have stopped stocking Iodine test kits. :grr:
- Found all my frags in my 55gal torn loose and about 1/3rd of my Xenia frag obliterated. :/
- In another tank, a tree coral inexplicably seems to have put the whammy on my mushrooms. ????
- Had to evict all bottom-dwelling corals from my 55gal to my 20gal, because there is no other place to put them. :S
- My 20gal has a T8 bulb. One...T8. One. Yay for useless lighting! :kana:
- Got sloppy moving bits and got tagged by one of my Lytechinus urchin for the first time. Now I have two sore hands! :shout: :shout: :shout:
- The Anthelia slime smell...it will not wash off, and I have to make dinner soon!
- I'm tired, I have to mix salt, and I don't want to carry a 50lb jug to do it.

You know that point of "what on earth was I thinking when I set this up and how did I end up with 12 of them"? I know it well right now. I'm not sure what I should have learned from this...it seems like I should have learned something, bad events need to happen to a less sleep-deprived brain to enable learning.

Oh Donya, sounds painful and girl, you need some sleep and a PJ day :good:

Look after yourself

yikes, that sounds horrible

i never knew you had 12 tanks :hyper:

Ooo...PJ days! It's been so long since I've had one of those. Wasn't able to stop running around today but tomorrow may just have to be one of those now that you've mentioned it. :shifty:

i never knew you had 12 tanks

Yep, 9 salty, 3 fresh! My small 3-room home has one room devoted entirely to aquatic things.

Not sure whether things are looking up today. My hand is still itchy where the urchin got me, but I guess that's really pretty good given the outcomes I've read about with other urchin stings. The thing I feel stupidest for there is that I was even using tongs to make sure my hand only had to dip a little bit into the water. Darned glass-climbing echinoderm...I guess I need to do gloves AND tongs next time if I don't want to risk another round of hearing the squelchy sound you get when you push a fork into a steak.

Anyway, on the plus side, my lighting crisis on the 20gal is solved, so the corals should thrive in there once I get it all set up. I was able to get an incredible bargain today on a used 2xT5 fixture from my favorite LFS. One bulb needs replacing, but I think I'll do both just to keep 'em in sync. Unfortunately though, I was able to snatch up the fixture because the store is closing down...out-competed by by the big nation-wide chains. That will be the 4th LFS within driving distance to disappear in the 3 years I've been in this area.
