28 years of keeping fish betta free and my wife purchased Zach today. He's a simple red and blue veiltail that she liked from our LFS so he now has free range of a tank I suspect I left unoccupied for a little too long.

I'll try to get some pictures up once he's a bit more settled (and I've cleaned some algae off the tank so we can see him).

Also, my wife's first fish, so I've finally worn her down.

OHNOES NOT A BETTA.

Pics or it didn't happen.

To be fair, it's an empty 30l tank that I hadn't done anything with. It's not in use as it doesn't suit anything I'm running at the moment so it was a plant nursery, so if she wants to get into fishkeeping I'm more than happy to oblige with a tank for her.

Besides, I'd considered turning it into a reef, which would have been a huge compromise, but, as she knows that I want a reef this now means that I can set up a proper reef tank in return for the unused tank, so silver linings all round.

Excellent! Betta become friends so hopefully she'll really get into it.

Pics, as requested.

That's a nice little guy. I like how the margins are red.

Lovely fish, it's going to be my next project too :D

Well he seems happy. Bubble nesting away. There must be something in the water in my tanks at the moment.
