I went shopping at Aquabid. I actually got some nice little fishies. But you know you just have to fill the box.

I got three from a SEAsian youngster making his way through Med school in Conneticut. He has had betta all his life and just tried his first at breeding. I wanted the Platinum female Plakat and then looked to fill the box. He had some spawn a brother and sister: Yellow Long Tail Plakats. I have not taken pics to post yet. These yellow babies are maybe 1/4" long, healthy and keeping each other company in the same tank. They are Tiny teeny babies. He told me to give them another month before separating them. They shake a blood worm with the best of them!

So I will post the Aquabid pics. The yellows are diferent ones from the ones I got.
Thiese are the posted pics:
The yellow long tail plakat:

The platinum plakat girl is a twin. I got one:

In addition I got Roxy and Roxana a Beau from an Asian breeding farm. It was a good price for him.

So here is Roxy/Roxana's Beau

I just couldn't abide a near empty box and pay all that shipping. There were several nice fish caught my eye in the farm photos. Then I looked at the home page. There was their new color morph.
:*) :*) :*) :fun: :S    :sly: B)

He comes with a sister.

Now I am going to check my camera and see if any thing on there is worth posting :byebye:

OMG I am so jealous of you haha I LOVE the black copper boy I looked at him and I also looked at the platinum girl since I have a boy but no girl and that orange pair is just to die for! haha you lucky! cant wait for you to get them and post pictures!

Woooow, love the black-copper and the orange guy!!! The platinum is nice as well. I'm afraid there's no such thing as a long-tailed plakat though, hehe. Plakats are by definition short-finned. Is it a cross between a long-finned fish and a plakat?

WOW, that Black Copper boy is insaaanely gorgeous! Are you going to spawn him? If so, I need to be at the top of the waiting list ... gawd, they're all amazing Bettas!! LUCKY!

hrm. That "long tailed Plakat" thing was posted on another board as a scam. There's no such thing as a Long-tailed Plakat... unless, it's a Plak crossed with a long-tailed Betta?... that yellow guy looks like a VT, to me, and he looks pretty nipped up too. Hopefully it's NOT a scam.

Yeah well I just got the yellows to fill the box. They were two for $5 and he had a whole spawn to find homes for. The platinum girl is a pretty little thing. She was $10. So 3 fish for $15 and $25 overnight expess from Conneticut (my choice). He's just a college student that bred his fish. I wanted the platinum girl and the yellows came along for the ride. Who knows. I could email him and find out. Maybe I will when they get a little bigger. Her fins are all right but they may be a little nipped.

Now the ones from Thailand take my breath away. I'm breathless!

After the pictures of the poor torn up lady I am a little skeptical. I'm not breeding until I have some room to make a new mess and still get from one end of the house to the other.

By the way :*) :*) :*) Thanks from the fishies and me.

You all can guide me through the spawning and raising stuff when it's time.

Oh, BTW, I invited the breeder from Thailand to the forum and gave him a link. I told him to mention my name. He is anxious to practice his English. His English is a little rough and he sometimes has trouble following me. I have to slow down and get rid of complex sentences and contractions. Anyway could be interesting.

That was really nice of you to invite him I am sure he has great advice and things to share :) and I just had to look at your beautiful fish again!

He emailed to let me know he visited. He saw the post w/his fish. He didn't sound like he would be coming more. I think the English might be too fast and idiomatic for him and maybe he thought it would be more business like.

I expect his fish around next Thursday.

Beautiful fish..might want to inform your conneticut friend of the "no such thing" as a long fin plakat..if he's advertising them that way. That could get him in some trouble on AB for false advertising. Should he sell to the wrong person and they get mad enough.

That first one does look like a VT. So I would assume you won't spawn the ones that came from him..since they carry VT.

Botht he black and orange are quite lovely. I still want a orange fish...I should have taken that one from Sorrell a while back . But back then I didn't have room for him though. OYE hindsight lol. Ehh..I'll eventually get one I guess, just be a while.

Very nice choices though.

No I didn't plan on breeding any of the four. The yellow tail ones (they do have a yellow tail) are the size of minnows right now. He is S E Asian, probably American, so who knows what he means by term "Yellow long tail." It may turn out to be quite descriptive, which may be all he meant to do. I will probably email him.

If people have questions they can email the seller and are encouraged to do so. to ask questions

That black and copper one is    What are you going to name that stunner? Oooo, breed him (turning on subliminal messages, :S breed black/copper male, :S breed him for me, :S breed him for me :S for me :hyper:, subliminal messages off).

Did anyone notice that? No? Good, my work is done.

I'm sorry..but are there not ENOUGH people on this forum breeding right now? Come on now...we are suposed to be here for the care of the fish..not our compulsive wanting behaivors. -_-

Not every single fish that is out there needs to be bred, regardless of how pretty it might be. You might be halfway joking around...but seriously....younger viewers see that type of comment and take it to heart. I feel that is why we have like 15+ people trying to spawn on here right now.

And in all honesty, I'd just like to know what they plan to do with all these fish once they do. Because after a while..everyone here is gonna have too many fish...and many people are going to have taken on too many (trying to help these breeders out) to care for..and only the fish will suffer at that point. :( Changing that much water takes time, effort, money, and formost devotion.
I am not knocking anyone here, but eventually people begin to slip sometimes... "oh well they can go one more day" and then it snow balls. Then what happens? A fish that should have had it's water changed after 4 days ends up going 2 weeks, then it's sick, and then it dies. A normal person can only handle so big of a load...20+ fish is too much for normal people...and that's what is gonna happen around here if all these people keep pumping out fish.

It worries me tremdously.

I am 99.9% positive that the first picture up there is a VT male. If that is a spawn sibling of any of the other fish, they carry VT...that's what I meant. Might have been a plakatxVT spawn and some of them turned up with short fins...that's what I meant about them carrying VT. Even though they might not have long fins..it's in their immediant heritage. :)

Hi jollysue :)

That black one is amazing!! You are so lucky.

I must say too, that the color of the orange is wonderful. I think I even like its shape better than the more fancy bettas.

Good luck with the shipping. I hope all goes as well with them as it did with my recent purchase. :D

You took that orange one right from me!!!!!!! I wanted him sooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad. Find him a perdy orange girlie and sell me some beeebeeeeeees :p He's sooo gorgeous. I love them all though. The whitish ones I saw on there earlier too. Congrats!!

SRC, I don't doubt or confirm that the yellow tail may have Veil Tail. My guess is that the adult in the pic is the father. He is not a fish I would have ever chosen. I just can't bare an empty box. The yellows were all he had to add. I figured the yellow girl could go into the sorority. I did not look into his breeding. After I spoke with (via email) the young man, I concluded that he is a student with some fry. I have fish that I would breed in a heartbeat if I decide to breed.

When the 2 new fish come I will have four Thai pair and trios, all from show stock. The yellow fins are not on that list. The fish are healthy, alert and happy, not like the LFS that just died a week after I got her for no apparant reason. The yellows were pets. not unlike taking your neighbors' puppy from a litter. Sometimes it works and sometimes it's a heart break. Most of the girls will be in one or two sorority tanks. I may put some males in corey tanks with other community fish. I am sure the boy is just a student with fish--a hobbiest. His perspective is not that of a breeder or showman.

I posted my lfs Veil Tails when I got them. I posted the yellows. They are just a nice little fish, not a great find.

SRC, I agree that there is a lot of pressure to breed. I am not now planning to breed for the reasons you have stated, mostly because it's too much work that I'm not prepared to do. That doesn't mean I won't in the future.

redbetta, the farm had more. Google Interbettas.com. The Orange one comes with his own lady. :D

Thanks Inchworm for the good wishes. :D

Iljdma, I am ruminating on names. Got suggestions? The breeder is Sanya, meaning promises. His wife is Sita, meaning the woman with beautiful eyes. I think the Black Copper will be Beau because I got him as the beau of Roxy and Roxana from Better Betta Farms, two lovely Black Copper HM/HMx Plakat ladies. I got them at the lovely price of $5 dollars to fill a corey shipment box. Beau is the first Black Copper HM SuperDelta male that I had seen on AquaBid at a reasonable price. The breeder calls beau a Super Black Copper Super Delta Halfmoon Plakat. HaHa

But he is Super.

 :D :D  :p

And, Lady, Thanks for a 2nd visit. You say nice things.

Thank you, Mac, sorry for yelling at you
