Just walked by my 150 (I just woke up so I'm a little slow...) thought how sweet, the eel's out, oh he'e talking to Mongo...AHHHHHHH! Where's his head?! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

At that point Mongo darted and snatched him up, I grabbed a net, but he's not letting go for anything. I guess I'll just have to watch for if he loses interest and then pull it out.

Just wanted to add a story to tell some of the people who've never kept large fish, that it happens fast, even when your fish are compatible, if someone shows a sign of weakness, they are taken care of. Don't keep large aggressive fish if you aren't prepared for these situations...

Hey sorrell, who's Mongo???
Sorry about the eel though! :(

Sorry bout that, Mongo is the last of our rescused Pacus who is severely stunted. He was kept in a 29gal by his previous owners within a community tetra tank. When we aquired him 5 years ago, he went into our 500gal pacu tank (not currently set-up) Well, he's the last of the pacus and only ever reached about
5 1/2-6 inches long. So he's now in the 150 and doing (and eating) well. :)

Ahh bless. Obviousl eating well if he munched your poor eel!!

Pleco, yes pacus are vegetarians, I don't think he killed the eel, I think he was just enjoying the body.

I don't know if we'll get another  This one was the first I have ever seen like it, so I don't know when I'll see one again. Also, I wonder why he died as he was eating well and showed no signs of illness. If the environment wasn't just right for him, I don't want to add another in.

Almost like the fishy version of finding a horse head in your bed..... Sorry bout the eel, that totally sucks

Thanks! I used to work at a store and we'd have all kinds of dumper fish, so many that we couldn't keep them in the store. Anyway, I'd take home the pacus and sweet Mongo is the last of them. I really love him  I wish they all stayed that size, because they are my favorite fish.

*wonders if the bettas heard that* -_-
