bubbles, my crownie girl has had this weird growth on her mouth (just the right side) for about a month now. she is a pearly white color, so it was hard to see this for a while. i thought she just had a funky mouth.
i have her isolated and treated her with jungle fungus clear. it got worse for a little while (reddish and gross), then better. the fungus clear didn't seem to make it better. she is currently jarred with daily water changes. she has a bit of salt, 1 drop of melafix, and one 1 drop of colloidal silver in her water... any ideas??? :dunno:

I don't think 1 drop of anything is going to do much really. You should mix up a gallon at a time and dose the meds out accordingly.

Liquid med's

The whole syringe...1 tsp (5ml)..........treats 10 gallons
3/4 the syringe.......3/4tsp (3.75ml)....treats 7.5 gallons
1/2 the syringe.......1/2 tsp (2.5ml).....treats 5 gallons
1/4 the syringe.......1/4 tsp (1.25ml)...treats 2.5 gallons
1/5 of 1 ML ............(.20ml)..................treats 2 cups

So to treat 1 gallon you need 3/5 of 1 ML.

3/5 of the 1ML section = 3rd tick (.60ml) = treats 1 gallon

thanks for the diagrams. i made up the fungus clear the way you described, but the silver (1100 ppm) and melafix, i thought you were only supposed to use a few drops per gallon. her jar is tiny, so i just used 1 drop...
should i try a stronger med? fungus clear has nitrofurazone, furozolidone, and potassium dichromate

Personally I wouldn't try mixing up med's in anything smaller then a gallon at a time...just makes for more accurate doasge imo. You can always re-warm the water by sitting it in a sink full of warm water..to re-use at a later time.

Exactly how small of a jar are we talking?

The way I would go about your fish's tumor is probably add a bit of antibiotics for 2 weeks to see if it makes any difference. I would probably go for Spectrogram, just because it is both gram positive and negative, so can cover a gamut of bacteria and it also hits fungus as well. If after 2 to 3 treatments (so about 3 weeks in antibiotics) the tumor has not changed at all (zero, nada), then leave it alone

it's probably like a beanie box...after my fighting disaster, i had to separate hi ma and hao, and ran out of non-divided tanks, and i don't want her in with anyone else, so she is in this little "betta tank" that i had saved for emergency use only.

A Beanie box holds 56oz of water. That's just a tad under half a gallon.
