Weird-Acting Danios

Just this morning I go to feed my fish (1/2 hour after the light turns on or so) and three male-looking Danios and a female-looking danio were at it. I google'd around and didn't find anything of interest. Does anyone know the mating ins and outs of the Danio? They just seemed to form a ball at different places in the tank with the 'female' at the center of the ball. It's kind of interesting to watch.
