What does a litre of water weigh as i want to put more LR in the tank but worried about the weight however wldnt it weigh the same?

I reckon it would increase the total weight of the tank by the weight of the rock you put in.



Only if you don't remove water at the same time. in which case subtract the weight of water 1 liter weighs 2.204684pounds 1000.028 grams 1.000028 kg !

Yeah it all depends on how porous the rock is though... Remember, that the rock is probably full of holes so it will displace some water but some will also seep into it. Its tough to calculate, but usually the rock increases the weight of the tank. N1z, I believe you've got a 55 right? 55s are heavy, but not astronomically so and a modern house shouldnt have too much trouble supporting it especially if its near a load-bearing wall.

Plus you have to take into account the density of the rock and the volume of water it will displace.

yer, cos i did a test at work with a 2 litre bottle of water and it weighed 2 kilos..
I mean yes it is under a supporting wall and 3 struts i belive maybe 4 as its in the same position to where the bath is yet in my room
Ok well tbh i need the money 1st but mainly need to sneak it into the tank lol my dad is really worried about it lol.

for future litres to weight equations, metric units is easy. 1 litre of pure water weighs 1kg at sea level.

I would assume that salt water will weigh around 1.025 kg per litre as a result of it having an SG of 1.025 and pure water having 1.000

Gah, what was I thinking... One gallon of seawater weighs in at nearly 10lbs

Just type something like "100 US gallons in UK gallons" and it does it for you.

You have no worrys, I have a 55g with about 50kg of rock and 25kg of sand and its upstairs. A good way to tell if your floor has moved is to see if the tank is still level oh and if you cant shut the door on the room its normally not a good sign.
