Weekly Maintenance Questions

Hey , did my first maintenance today. Still have some questions after I read the thread on maintence here though (which i should have done before):
1)Does it matter if I first put the fresh water in the bucket and then add the dechlorinator? I gave it a good stir.
2) my filter is inside my hood. I just pulled all my plugs, so there was no water running through it. Is this really as bad as they say in the thread? Can i just let it keep going next time?

1) Nope, it's probably preferable to mix it in the bucket first.

2) Hood filters are pretty terrible, I'd invest in a small external, HOB or internal filter.

1, yes that is fine

2, as long as your filter is not running dry (ie no water being drawn through it) you can leave it on whilst re filling your tank.
