weekend vacation...

so i'm going on a short weekend vacation come tomorrow night. the drive away is 3hrs long. but no one will be home to care for any of my fish i have weekend feeders but my betta is in a tank with no filtration or aeration. an h2o change for his tank was taken care of today.

is it ok to leave him here at home without any care?

OR

is it better for me to take him along on my road trip?

It must be nice to get away for the weekend, I don't remember the last time I got away for more than 20 hours (drive to Nevada, gambled for a few hours, went to nieces HS graduation, drove back home to Bay Area). haha

Your fish will be absolutely fine, the traveling might actually be too stressful for him. They can go without food for quite a while ( a couple weeks if they're well fed beforehand), and the tank will be fine for such a short time.

yes, vacations are always good - even the weekend kinds! specially to the bay area! depending on who vacations with you anyway yep i figured it would be stressful for my betta to take him with me... so home is where he'll stay. thanks for the tip shrks1fan

yes he will be fine BUT I would recommend putting a lid on the tank cuz if he does jump u wont be there to save him

I keep my boy here at work while I go home for the weekends. I usually do a water change before I leave and give him a couple extra pieces of food. I would normally fast him 1 day, but with the weekend he goes 2 days. I often end up coming in on Sunday anyways cause I miss him sooo much!!

that's exactly what i'm afraid of - missing my little guy but i already postponed my trip to tonight instead of this morning just so he can get all his feedings today and will just have to fast til monday morning. if i miss him too much - i'll just have to come back home tomorrow thanks draven!

I have a betta in my office and he stays there over the weekend. He does just fine. I took him home for the 4 day July 4th weekend, but I think he might have been ok even for that long. I change his water on Monday when I get back to the office. Maybe the weekend fasting is why he is so eager to jump out of his bowl to get at the food?

well that's something to look forward to with mine. i love feeding my betta... it's so cute! maybe that's what he'll miss most about me too - the food thanks jaimoe. i look forward to coming home to a starving betta!

I just got my shipment of fish in yesterday. They were shipped priority and were fasted the day before so they went 72 hours without eating and did fine. They were hungry though lol
