I was thinkin about a few weather loaches for my 29 gallon chiclid tank and getting rid of the catfish. How many inches do they take up of the 1 inch per gallon rule because some one here had like 2 or 3 in a 10 gallon with fry

Weather loaches will get to be about 12" and are cold water species, so they would be fine in a tank with a goldfish OR several white cloud minnows OR other cold water fish. Although they may be acclimated for warmer waters, they may not do well in the long run.

Most common are the Common, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus (Cantor) and Spotted, Cobitis taenia (Linnaeus) Dojos or Weatherfishes. They are often called "living barometers" of their increased activity at the approach of changing weather. These fishes are pressure-sensitive, swimming about more if it?s about to rain for instance.

The Common Dojo/Weatherfish is drab to light brown naturally, though there are "Golden" Dojos (xanthistic varieties, not albinos) that are human-produced. This species attains a maximum length of about twelve inches. The Spotted Dojo or Weatherfish only reaches a natural length of six inches. Both are excellent scavengers. They should be kept with their own species, although I have kept them alone before with no problems. Unfourtunatly Golden Dojos can be quite hard to find, I have been searching for some for a while now with no luck so I hope you can find some.

Yes shops do have them, but most only have the common forms.
