I rather stupidly bought a weather loach for my small 2ft tank which at the minute He fits fine. I had thought that I would be getting a large cold water tank but I am not allowed. However I have an autie that has taken a few aggresive goldfish from me to put in her pond they have all survived and grown so I presume it is large and deep enough. I wondered if the loach could surviv outside here in the UK if not I will at some point have to find another home for him. At the minute he lives happily with two white cloud mountain minnows. He is one of my favourite fish.

Thanks

I doubt he would survive a scottish winter. Why not take him back to the pet shop?

I have kind of got attatched to him. I guess I will just have to find a good home for him when he gets bigger. Anyone know someone in the scottish borders that would be willing to take him. Free to a good home.

Weather Loaches will survive in a pond. Ive had 3 in my pond for about 6 years now, they were put in in the summer and they have survived well. They have grown from 3" to around 11" in the time they have been in there.

Very big. 1/2 a meter long. I thought they could live outside just wasn't sure. Thanks.

i've never heard anything larger than 12". and nope, dojos are not tropicals and are actually coldwater fish that can just handle (lower) tropical temperatures :p a subtle distinction from your initial impression, but it makes a difference!

OOps, so there isn't much chance of me getting a monster. Still 2ft is never big enough. Anyone have a minimum tank size for one?
