Well, here are the chems I currently add to my bettas water:

- dechlorinator
- salt
- a few drops of Promethyasul for disease prevention
- Wardley's Bullseye 7.0 pH regulator

I want to cut down on chemoicals, and I'm a bit wary of the Bullseye, I know adjusting your pH can do more harm than good. But it was sold to me when I bought Jerry and he's been on it ever since. I want to take him off it, so would it be okay to gradually 'wean' him off it? Like, add a little bit less of the regulator each water change?

Yes about every week you can use a less amount of that p.h. stuff but be sure you moniter the water stats as u do it. And u don't have to stop the salt unless u want to bettas like salt, and you don't have to use that diease prevention at all because your basically wasting your money because that does nothing, the salt does the same thing. And what size is the tank, and is their anyother tank mates?

I would definitely cut out the ph stuff and the disease prevention stuff. Although you are right, I'm sure it could effect them in some way. Watch them carefully to see if they act any different after being taken off. I also don't add salt to my tanks every water change. I only do when I see someone with damaged finnage or something, b/c I suppose salt would be less beneficial to treat this if they are in it all the time. and obviously you can't skip out on the dechlor, but I'm sure you already knew that :p

Thanks guys. :) The disease prevention stuff is only being used at the moment; I've had a bad run with Jerry nipping his tail, and the Promethyasul is just in while he regrows his fins. Rio is really sick with some mystery illness at the moment so he is on the Promethyasul too... I'm having a bad run. :(

I think I will gradually add less Bullseye, the bettas don't need it and it's $15 for a small bottle so I won't miss it for that either. :S
