We are going away and the fish will go Friday - Sunday without food - I bought an automatic fish feeder but it gave way too much food so had to fish as much as possible out and will not be using it. Slightly concerned about the amount left in the tank.

Will they be okay for a two/ three days without or is there any food block you can recommend?

3 days is no problems, give them a little more before you leave and all be good.

I have no problem going a few days without feeding... over feeding is much worse for them... plus your fish will love you, when you get home

The thing to remember here is that fish are cold blooded. Which means they don't need calories to maintain their body temperature. Which also means they don't need to eat nearly as much as we instinctively think they do. Fasting days are actually good for fish. They shouldn't eat every single day. Giving them a day without food helps their digestive systems. Which really aren't meant to be constantly full. They'll be fine for 3 days.

I'm soon going away for a little over a week. My fish will have 7 days unfed, and 3 days with an experienced aquarist borrowing the house. They'll be fine.

I have left my tanks for up to 2 weeks with no issues. Beyond 2 weeks, it isn't a good idea, though 3 weeks are possible. Do a healthy water change before you go (I do around 40%) and relax. They'll be fine.
