all the water parameters were right, and all of a sudden hes got an ich-like parasites, it is not ick because he does not scratch, and it doesnt look like ich, it looks like as if some one painted white dots on its body, but they are pretty small, like the ich size. nitrates are below 40 or 60, nitrites are 0, theres strong current in my tank, and the temp. is 79F. this is what he is doing: swims a bit then he goes and lays in the gravel like a statue, like as if he was sleeping, then after a minute or so, it slowly wakes up and swims again and then it goes back to statue mode. it looks like as if he was really tired and falls asleep as he swims, but i know he isn't. like i said it is not ICH, his tank is 55 gallons

The appearance of the white spots is a bit confusing, but the rest of the symptoms resembles some form of swim bladder disease.... The swim bladder is filled with gases which helps the fish keep its balance and any imbalance (in the swim bladder) can cause the fish to either float (overproduction of gas) or sink (underproduction of gas).... In your case it looks like the fish is sinking and then rests due to the effort it took to swim from point a to b.....

It is generally caused by a sudden chill, (which also causes ich) & that's why (imo) I think the fish does not have the energy to do the scratch movement (thus disguising the telltale symptoms of true ich)... Unfortunately, I do not know of an effective cure for swim bladder disease.

swimbladder is an output from a disease, usually poor water and or stress can do it. If you catch it quickly and treat the disease at the root cause it can rite itself.

Hi DarkEntity.... I am personally also interested.... When you say "If you catch it quickly and treat the disease at the root cause it can rite itself." What treatment is suggested??.....

sorry about this, but i just found he does have ich, i saw him scratching like mad this morning and lethargic as well, i dont think its swimbladder though, anyways right now i putted him in a 2.5 gallon tank with ich away medicine, aquarium salt, air stone, and the temp is set at 80F., but im sure is gonna drop due to room temp. i also putted a towel over the tank so the light doesnt get through and disturbes the medicine as it is light sensitive, i realized my pictus and sev. also got it, so i putted them with the bgf as well, im checking tomorrow at 7pm to see how things went with that treatment.
