i know for you experts out there, this will be a simple one for you, BUT
ive just got my first tank, been running bot 2 months and its brill, cos i got babies straight away, i netted them so they wasnt eaten. BUT

i have lost nearly 2inch of water in the tank, and i need to put more in, how is this done please ?

i have bought safe water and safe guard, how much and how often, will putting new water in the tank hert my new babies ??? ( sad i know ive been on baby watch for above a week now, carnt belive i didnt get a tank sooner )

would like anyones help
 
You can top off the tank at any time by using enough water conditioner to treat the amount being added (not the whole tank),

The more often you do water changes on the fry tank, the better growth you will experience. You can't do water changes too often for them. I do water changes every 3 days or so on my fry tank.
 
It should probably be mentioned that you shouldn't get in the habit of only putting in more water to top it off. It's ok every once in a while, but when water evaporates it leaves all the minerals and such behind. If you were to keep replacing water only when it evaporated the mineral concentration would keep rising and rising until it was lethal. Best to take water out as well whenever you can.
