 Hi,

Can anyone give me advice on bringing the GH of my water down

It was 3000 ppm because I added too much salt on bad advice. The LFS who tested the water said it needs to be less than 500.

I have now done 4 50% water changes and got it down to 1400 ppm. With the first 2 water changed ig GH came down very quickly but now it is only comming down about 200 at time.

I have also added bog wood and took out all rocks.

Is their anything else I can do?

I'm afraid all yu can do is to continue the water changes. Be patient, it should go down eventually.

do you have fish in the tank? if not you could buy some RO water from the fish shop and add it bit buy bit till you get your gh where you want it, problem is it will bring your PH down as well

Yes I have Guppys and Mollies in the tank.

I was advised these fish were compatable but I have been reading on the web that they are not, does anyone know why? They seem to be getting on OK.

What would be good fish to put with these when the water is sorted? I have a 22 gallon tank. I like the red Tailed Sharks, but are they too aggresive?

Thanks again?

Guppies and mollies might be nippy, because they both have the long fins. They CAN get along, but if you are seeing ragged fins this might be why.
