evening peeps

I did "my" first water test today (i usually get it done at the LFS) and well everything came up perfect :hyper: , now I did this test before I did a water change and so I decided to ask all your excellent advice before doing a water change :D

now should I maybe leave it another week and do a 50% again or should I do it this week at a 10 to 20% and do I need to test the water again after I change the water???

thanks y'all

It's not advised to do large water changes as it stresses the fish out, also if you have left the tank for a while without a water change the ph of tank can be different from your tap ph, so I think it's best to do a weekly water change of 10 to 20%.

thank you :D

I live in a area of scotland where our water is very soft and contains NO chlorine, will this help to keep the water nice and healthy?

Only way to keep water nice and healthy is doing weekly gravel vacs and water changes, you do use a declorinator for the water.

I do a gravel vac and 40% water change every week to ten days based on my nitrate levels. Once a month I remove the shells and roots and other things(not the plants of course) to do a deeper gravel vac to get the crud that settles on the bottom. This helps to get a lot of the tiny snails out as well.
