Hello.
I am due to buy a new water test kit and wondered whether anyone knew of a good one out there. The last one i bought was the TMC kit which i thought was good but sometimes i found it hard to determine the exact result from the colour chart.
Also i just bought a new skimmer, the V2 400 which I have eventually managed to set up but I am finding it hard to prevent bubbles even though I have fitted the bubble stop. The skimmer itself is very good but I had to buy new tubing to attach the pump as it was too short (a fault I have since read many times)
Any advice gladly recieved.
Kate

hi kate welcome to the forum, i myself have just upgraded from tmc kits to salifert just ordered from the t'internet most people seem to rate them quite well. the skimmer how long has it been setup i have the v600 and it took about a month to dial in properly and now it works great...

I use API tests for the basics (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH) and then salifert for the more advanced stuff (calk, alk, magnesium, etc.). I find both of them easy to use and read.

With regards to the bubbles coming from the skimmer, I don't think there's much you can do to prevent it other than get creative with DiY work. I find (with my V2 600) that keeping the bubble trap clean seems to help reduce the bubbles a bit. The bubbles are the only thing really making me want to move my skimmer into a sump.
