My first guess was Lobelia cardinalis, but looking at it longer Im not so sure now. Was it in a tank when you bought it?

That does look like Cardinal Plant. It will transition. You won't keep those purple leaves.
It will end up more like this.

It grows purple like that when it's emersed, I had no idea it transitioned when submergedI am worrying too about how to keep those purple leaves.
I was hoping it wasnt purple waffle. It does look very similar to cardinal plant.Purple waffle. it's a garden plant and needs to be out of water otherwise it will be dead in a week.
