ive just done a complete water test on my planted 240litre tank and i dont really understand the meanings of certain results its the kh/gh and working out the amount of co2 present in the water ppm thats the problem how do you work it all out?

my results are (using nutrafin test kits) tank is a fairly new set up (cycling) using pressurised co2

ph 7
ammonia 0
nitrite 0.2mg
nitrate 0.2mg
po4 0.25mg
kh 30
gh 80

ive noticed when people post their kh/gh they for example they have a reading of 6 how do you get the result of 6?

any help is appreciated :)

Cheers

Matt

In order to work out the CO2 you punch the KH and pH into a website like this one scroll down :) the relationship is fixed so for any given pH and KH with added CO2 you have a set CO2 level :)

but it still doesnt make se nse to me it says ive got 90 ppm co2 that cant be right can it?

You using the nutrafin test kit? If so it tells you the KH in ppm. To work out the degrees kh you divide by 17.9, that's how people get a KH/GH of say 6 :)

You can use either dKH or ppm to work out the CO2, I think you're putting the 30 in the dKH box, when it should go in the ppm box. I make your CO2 5.1ppm, so very little.
