I cycled my tank for four weeks!
On my final test reading i got the all clear so i went ahead and put six fish in my tank!
Its been afew days now, i woke to find a dead fish! I retested my water to find all my levels pretty much the same.
My pH, KH and GH levels are all reading the same but ive noticed the NO2 and NO3 levels have risen a tiny bit!

Is this expected?

I wouldn't say it's expected.. Well, everything dies, but you know what I mean. :)

How much have have the nitrite levels risen by? I've read that just 0.2 ppm can be fatal.

sorry to hear that herodave :rip:

are your angels still ok?

Yeah, the Angels seem fine!
I dont know how much its risen by . . . Im not 100% sure how to read this test kit, its just got bars and they've moved from being spot on to slightly in between the first and second bar!

Get a liquid based test kit, it sounds like you're using the paper strips, they're very unreliable. When you've done all the liquid based tests compare the results with a test strip, you'll probably find that the test strip is way off the mark.

Good luck :)
