:( :dunno:
I don't know if this is an emergency or not, but I phoned up the local water board to find out about the water hardness up here in Inverness.

The wifey totally baffled me by going on about french, German and English degrees.

The English is 3 degrees, french is 2 degrees and german is 3 degrees.

I know that the water in inverness is really soft and stays pretty much the same all the way through Scotland. compared to water in england which is preety hard.

What would be the best water hardness or softness for my fish?

I have: 1 Blue Gourami, 1 Bala Shark, 3 X-ray Tetras, 2 Danios, 1 Silver tip Tetra, 1 Indian Algae Eater, 1 Guppy.

Any Ideas? :(

that is not temperature fairy angelfish. the most common measurement of hardness is either german degrees or ppm. kh is carbonate hardness, the measurement of bicarbonate and carbonate ions. this is also referred to as the buffering capacity as it has the ability to neutralize acids and stabilize ph.

gh is general hardness is the measurement of calcium and magnesium salts in the water.

what is the ph of your water?
