Water Hardness Problem!!!!!

The Ph of my water is around 8.0 untreated. I have some upside down catfish and some small fish which i can't remeber the name of. They all need a ph of around7.0. I have some powder that i had to the water the lowers the ph. The only problem is that it makes the water cloudy, misty for a few days until the filter removes it (which is annoying becasue it falls into the tank when i clean the filter). I look at the intructions and it siad that this would happen in hard water. How can i sort out this problem. PLEASE NOT I DON'T HAVE MUCH MONEY TO SPARE!!! AS I HAVE AREADY HAD TO TREAT THEM FOR WHITE SOPT AND HAD TO BUY NEW PLANTS BECASUE THEY HAVE EATERN THEM.!!!

There are many fishes that accept a variable PH, so you shouldn't have the need to lower your PH to the exact levels. Upside down catfish can accept a range between 6-8PH. Here's a link to help you.....

I think whoever had sold you that white powder, perhaps is only after a sell. However, what's done is done. My advice is to cut out adding more stuff into that tank and leave it to stabilise. Adding more things into it, especially chemicals to alter the 'balance', may screw things up more so.

See what's it like tomorrow or the day after. See how the fish are coping then...

why not try keeping fish that suit your tapwater? i would love to have a ph of 8 from the tap

I have now purchased a blue siamiese? fighting fish. I was told that my water was to hard, will i have to lower that?

I got the powder from Pets At Home. It would have been nice if they had put the infomation on the front of package. If i do need to change it again i shall use liquid ph down
