ok here we go i started my 13 gallon tank on 06/12 done all the stuff i was told to IE added stress zyme & stree coat. After a week went back to shop to have water tested thay said it`s ok to add fish and told 6 would be fine but WRONG in the first week lost two of them. Went back to shop to water tested again and found it was ammonia that killed them. So was told to a water change and add ammo lock so done over 6 days but two days after doing the last stage of water change i lost another fish and the water has gone all cloudy is somethink i have done if so how can this be sorted out.

hope someone can help me out here as starting to worry me.

P.S also the last three fish in tank are staying at the top of tank

K the fish shop is deifnately giving you really bad advice, the fish are suffering from new tank syndrome, there is a really good article written by our very own Alien Anna in the pinned section of the beginners forum.

Basically whats happened the fish have produced waste, there isn't enough bacteria to convert so they're poisoning themselves. ammolock is a short term solution but will own deal the levels you've got now it won't help to stop it happening in the future. You're going to need to get your own test kits for ammonia and nitrite and keep a really close eye on the tank for a couple of weeks. Do another water change of bout 25% and as soon as the levels start rising do another 10% change (this could be as often as daily). Although it'll mean your tank will take longer to cycle you'll at least keep healthy fish, otherwise you can risk long term poisoning.

One last thing before you read the above suggested topic, make sure all water used in water changes is dechlorinated with a proper dechlorinating agent, otherwise your tank will never cycle as the bacteria will be killed each time.

Hope that helps
