im currently battling red slime algae in my tank

its only on my sand, not on live rock etc

ive read and have been doing all the recommendations, but its still coming back

suggestions were: more flow around the sand to ensure no dead spots and that detritus etc cant settle

how do you get a good water flow around the bottom of your tank without the sand blowing up everywere?

Nassurius snails are one good way of getting oxygen around the sandbed as they burrow in the substrate which helps a little, regarding flow i'm not sure as i had the problem of trying to get the flow NOT to move the substrate

Have a powerhead sitting a couple of inches above the substrate. You can attach a spray bar to it and that can help reduce the movement of the sand. Hermit crabs and things that crawl across the bottom can help as well.
You just have to be persistent with the red algae. If you keep removing it each day it does usually go.
