Within the last two weeks my water has gone from crystal clear in both my planted tanks to cloudy to the point that I can hardly see to the back of the tank. I've done water changes to the extent of up to 80%. I have changed absolutely nothing in the setup. Any ideas on what I could check to clear things up??

btw both of the tanks have been up for 6-8 months.

Well here are the vitals. They are exactly the same in both FW tanks.

Nitrate ~ 20 or less
Nitrite ~ 0
Hardness(GH) ~ 75ppm
Total Alkalinity KH ~ 0-40.........NEVER seen that low before. Usually in the 100 range
PH ~ 7.2

it sounds like un eaten food it allways makes water cloudy . ither something died or there is food in there .. have you changed food brands lately? some supermarket stuff will do that . do you have snails ?if they die its cloudy water too.

Your best bet to get rid of the cloudyness will be to stop the large water changes firstly and add some very fine foam to you filter (if possible)

What sort of cloudyness is it? If its green then it will be due to an algae bloom, so cutting down the lighting for a while will help.

I was thinking that it may be a bacterial bloom, but this is very unlikely to happen in two seperate tanks at the same time.
I'm gonna go with Squidlips. A food brand change or someone else feeding the fish has been known to cause problems with cloudy water.
For it to happen to both tanks at the same time something would have had to have changed, even the slightest thing.

You could also check with your water supplier to see if anything has changed. If it has the water changes would be the cause, one of the reasons I suggested stopping them.
All the water parameters are ok and providing your fish seem happy and healthy I wouldnt worry too much. It will sort itself out.

;)

I would look at this.
