Water Cloudy ... Any Ideas?

Newbie here and we have a 30 gallon fresh water tank (getting our feet wet before we think about going for the real tropical tank). Anyway, our water just lately gets clooudy and no matter what we do will not return to clear unless we do a major water change. I am not for doing this as i like my fish to have a stress free life. The PH level is around 6.6 and the local store said the water is OK, however it will just not go clear. We have replaced the filters as they do seem to be getting extremely messy.

If someone could give me two or three things to try that would be great, I am at the point where I do not want to do anything else in fear of making things worse. The fish do seem happy but i am concerned for them.

Iv just had this porp and hate to get a new filter and got some filter aid and seems to be clearing no dont if the filter aid will help you

I think this cloudy phase is a baterial bloom. I had this briefly after a month of my tank running with fish. Mine cleared after a few days and I don't think it's a serious problem. Search the previous posts for more info.
