do i siphon the bottom like i would with a FW tank or do i just suck the water out...

(dumb question i know but had to ask

I just suck the water out. Depends on how you wanna clean the tank. After a lengthy period, you can gravel vac your SW tank, but it is less common. After the stress yours has been through of late, id leave it for now.

yeah I wasn't planning on vaccing it, thought you only did it if there was a reason, like a hell of a load of muck on the substrate.

:)

i was thinking that too but just thought i`d check....

thank you miagi, san

Yeah I usually just siphon mine out. You have to be careful when siphoning sand... Its really easy to suck up ;). I usually take the wide mouth off the vac and just straight up stick a hard 1/4" tubing in there so I can scrape off some hair algae and get detritus in LR crevices.

Btw, something I forgot to ask, what are you feeding?

we've got some aquarium marine food, it's a combo of flakes and freeze dried shrimps that sort of thing, then also some hikari marine pellets, and some purple seaweed stuff

we've got sand in all our tanks so we know all about siphoning it out!

Cool, sounds like you've got a decent variety. As I'm sure you know with so many freshwater, variety is the spice of life. You may want to suppliment with some frozen enriched brine and/or mysis shrimp a couple times a week.

yeah you wanna see the amount of fish food we have lying around, always buying enw stuff, we like them to have a good variety. We've got a load of frozen foods and also buy live (brine shrimp, blood worms, daphnia etc) as a treat once a week or so, we weren't confident in feeding them these yet, was yet another question we were gonna ask!!!
