Hi just wondering how everyone does there water changes on there 55gals +.

- Do you use the Python hose? How does that work?
- Cup and bucket?
- Syphon?
- Water change? What the hell is that?
- Or do you make your little sister drink all the water until 25% of it is gone?

I have one 19US, one 45US and one 84US and I always use my syphton powered gravel cleaner to do my 20% weekly water changes. I syphon the water into a bucket and empty the bucket down the sink. I also syphon the water back in as I find doing this does not stress the fish and they act totally normal throughout.

I do WC's on my 200g by syphoning the water into 2 10 gallon drums which i then carry to the bathroom to tip away, i refill the tank with a hose. The whole thing only takes around a hour to do a 25% water change. i do the same for the 55, 40 and 20 gallon tanks too.

do you add the declorinator straight into the tank then CFC ?

First I let water to flow direct to the drain (via hose):

After that I let water to flow first to bucket and after the bucket is full, I add water conditioner and pump water to the tank:

Water is still flowing to bucket all the time while pump is pumping water to the tank also. In the meantime I add little bit water conditioner to water too...

Yes, i add one teaspoon of AP stress coat before starting to return the water and then add another teaspoon as each 10 gallons is replaced, i have the volumes marked on the side of the tanks.

To those that use the Python... is it worth the 80bucks?

Well, mine only cost $25 (US). And it's definitely worth that. Best aquarium investment I've ever made.
i wouldn't think twice if it was only 25bucks but 80 dollars is a lot for a hose.

I have a 55gal and 240 gal. I siphon water out to a close bathroom sink with the Python. To put water back in the tank, I fill a large plastic storage container and add the water conditioners. I then pump the water from the storage container back into the tank.

I have to use a 5 gallon bucket to do the water changes on my 5 1/2, 20, and 55 gallon tanks. I just have to do multiple buckets full of water for my 55 gallon. The larger bucket I got wasn't strong enough in the walls for me to pick it up. The sides of the bucket would almost collapse! So I had to go back to the smaller bucket.
