hey all

I have a 1000l tank and was just wondering at the moment i am doing about 100 litres a week and everyday topup all with ro/water and tropic marine pro reef salt for the water changes.

some people say its to much and i can move it to 100 litres every 2 weeks ?

If anything I'd say that's on the low side... The real answer here though is, how's your tank doing? Cause if it ain't broke, don't fix it

been going to well actually, im scared summing will go suddenly horrible wrong,

all the corals and fish are growing bigger and bigger corraline is moving everywhere, maybe just keep doing what im doing.. salt just working out a bit steep, tropic marin pro reef a bit expensive but dont wanna change casue it works...

The easiest way to tell if you need to do more water changes is to monitor the nitrates and phosphates. If they are going up you need to do more water changes.
If you have a denitrating filter or a refugium that absorbs most of the nitrates then you could be fine as is, or even get away with doing fewer water changes. However I would recommend monitoring calcium, KH and other elements in the water to make sure those levels are remaining where they should be. If they are falling rapidly then you need to add more supplements or do more or bigger water changes to compensate.

We have a 55gallon tank and do around a 10% water change a week. We also test our water for phosphate, magnesium, calcium, nitrate, nitrite and pH. We tend to monitor nitrate closely so if it increases - do a water change more often. It sounds like your tank is doing well with weekly changes so I would keep doing what your doing!

i havent tested my water since last... august? Do bi/tri weekly water changes, heavily feed, got a mixed reef, pretty high bioload, skim lightly, trates are probably really high, phosphates are low though since i use a LOT of GFO. Anyway i keep sps corals fine as well as lps and all sorts of softies.

Not looking to change anything, its fine the way it is. If its not broken, dont fix it.
