now, i love my kitties dearly, but they reek havoc when it comes to my fish! today, doing water changes, i had kyuck in a little petco cup while i changed hi s water, and my kitty came over and knocked the cup off of the table. of course it broke and the lid popped off (on a carpeted floor no less!) and he was flopping all over! luckily i was right there and after about 15 sec i was able to scoop him back into the cup and rinsed him off with some of the fresh water.

so i added a little salt and put him in his tank without acclimating him...i think he is fine, but that was quite the adventure for the morning!

grrr......cats......grrrrr

Tsk! naughty kitties :grr:

Maybe you could put them in another room while you water change. My cat doesn't seem to be intrerested when water is flying around the place, which it usually is when I water change

I lock mine in a room while I do that. :p My cat is use to drinking water from anything (except the bathroom :D ) so I'm sure he'll drink my fishy up.

Did you talk to your cat in the same height, looking straight into his eyes with low voice tonality? "This is unacceptable behavior and you going to seat on the naughty spot for five minutes!"

Out of my 5 cats, there are three that are ALWAYS on the counter during water changes. They don't really get into anything, except they love to drink the fish water and I'm always a little worried they're going to drink the fish. Sometimes, however, I think the fish can protect themselves. One of them got bit by my nippy little Plakat the other day...right on that thirsty tongue. ;)

lol, I have 8 cats. So I close my doors while I water changes, but they all sit right outside my door with those innocent little kitty faces on. THe only way you can tell that mischief is afoot is those big 'ole dialated pupils and all those tounges licking their lips! :p

Mine is so jealous of the fish that she refuses to acknowledge that they really exist. She sits there with her back to me the entire time I am changing the water.

My cat is flatly curious about my fish. He doesn't "get" why the fish is so cool. Often, to get attention, he'll crawl up on top of the tiny, 2.5G tank and sit there. It's rather amusing, because Sori (my betta), will sort of swim to the top of the tank like, "What, ho? What is this I see before me?" *looks up at cat's behind*
