ive been told i need a 20% water change,,,do i put some water treatment in the new water before putting it back or do i just put the norm water back in??

the blue stuff????...and wont it harm the fish puttin it in straight away instead of leaving it for 2 day

The stuff you have will be a water conditioner, or a de-chlorinator.

I add the required amount to a bucket, fill the bucket with water as close to the aqaurium temperature as possible, I do that by touch. Then add the water to the aqaurium.

Hi, :)

sounds like you are talking about ich/disease treatment (Protozin/Med Ich or something similar)

This stuff is specifically for treatment of disease or illness and should not be put in your tank when doing a water change.

You need a water dechlorinator/conditioner...Aquasafe or any other decent brand which is designed to remove the chlorine from your water, not treat your fish for infection or disease.

i mean the the liquid u use wen setting up a tank

no use don't use that either. Thats stuff (Cycle or any other brand) is used just to supposedly start off your fishless cyle at the outset.

you need to get some water dechlorinator/water conditioner from your LFS.

then just follow the directions on the bottle. I put my conditioner into my bucket of water first, swill it round, let sit for a minute and then add to my tank).

Job done!

hope this helps.

It depends how you set up your tank. Some shops just give you 'Aquasafe' to use at the start which is what you should be using now and is also blue. I don't think aquasafe says dechlorinator distinctly on it, but it's the right stuff.

If you can't get any, leaving your water overnight will suffice for now, but I tend to leave overnight and add Aquasafe.
