I honestly used to enjoy doing my weekly water changes when I had my 40 tanks all up & running..... Due to circumstances, I downgraded to 17 tanks running, & started with enthusiasm doing my 80% water changes tonight, & got bored after the first 7.... I'll do the rest over the weekend....

I cannot put my finger on what contributes to this lack of vulgar,.... but maybe I should re-instate all my tanks again (even if I just put 10 fish in each) to regain my passion???

I'm wondering how this thread went by without everybody pitching in with their groans about having to do water changes. :dunno:

Ludvig Venter, if you really like to do water changes, you're more than welcome to stop by and do mine too. I only have 30 tanks, but they will keep you busy for a while.

i actually quite enjoy doing my weekly tank maintinence too. altho as i dont use a python as i like to make sure the water is dechlorinated before it gos into the tank so i do my weekly 40% change on my 456 litre tank using a 10 litre bucket i like syphoning out cleaning the sand etc but im always happy to see that last bucket go in!!!

I actually built up the guts to do a complete strip and wash on 4 tanks last night..... Maybe if it is in the blood,.... slight motivation just helps a little.... ( & Inchworm..... question once again comes up about bumpin... refer them to this one) (the joys of being a mod)??

I wouldn't necessarily say I enjoy doing water changes, but I don't really mind them that much. I have 2 25 gallon tanks, and it takes me only about 15-20 minutes combined to do 20% water changes in both of them.

I love water changes, as does my doctor, who prescribes muscle relaxants for my back when I tear it up.

I've got most of my tanks drilled with overflows. plumbed into a sump, with a pump to take the waste water away. I also recently ran a water line to the fishroom.

Hang the hose on a tank, and watch TV for several minutes, then switch it to another tank. That hose gets to be a drag though, I've got ideas for just opening a valve & going to take a nap for an hour or so.

When I did it with a bucket I hated lugging the water . I really hated doing when I was pregnant. But at the end of my pregancy I rigged up my own python. Now I love it. I'm ready for more tanks now. But yeah doing a bunch of tanks at one time could get boring. Just do a few at a time I'm sure that will help bring back that old spark.

i dont really mind the water changes...but man, do I have to make a Python!id realllly like one!

The thing I love doing most is the gravel vac - seeing all that murky gunk being sucked up the pipe and into the bowl (yeah, I do mine with a washing up bowl, lugging it from the lounge to the bathroom, back n forth LOL). Great feeling, knowing I'm making the tank cleaner - kind of makes me feel refreshed afterwards LOL, aaaaaah nice n clean!

It is tiring - but it's all part and parcel of keeping fish - and I guess it's a bit of extra exercise for me!

If I've been busy and not able to do a water change on the usual day, I get quite irritable knowing my fish may not be so happy. Once the water change is done, it clears my mind! If my fish are happy then I'm happy LOL

same here if i miss a waterchange for any reason it bugs me i sit there thinking my buddies need some fresh water. my missus rekons im obsessed but i just like to know im on top of water quality . and it really shows in the fish in terms of colouration and fin condition etc.

its a labour of love at the end of the day id say

I guess I'm the exception to the group as I really hate doing them. I only have 2 tanks running at the moment and have a python but hate getting it out, running it to the bathroom (kitchen faucet is crap and has no pressure) and then draining it and putting it back up. Also, have to get it from tank 1 to tank 2 (about 30') with the water still on without making a mess. I end up using buckets about half the time. And todays WCs are going to be a little more labor intensive as I really need to trim/prune a lot of plants in both tanks and also time to clean one of my externals (have 2 and do 1 a month). So anyone in the Charlotte, NC area that really likes doing WCs, come on down.
