well before i do my water change i have a question, my hydrometer has a reading of 1.026 and it means in 77 degree water it is off by 0.002 so, my water is around 81 steady and my hydrometer means its reading at 1.028, wich i also think is too high but i have a question, i am going to take 5 gallons out, then in a 6 gallon bucket i will pour 5 gallons of distilled water in, heres the question, what should i make the salinity of the new water so i can get my salinity in my tank to 1.026 or 1.025... i think 1.026 will be a little more gradual and wont hurt anything, so i have instant ocean and it says to add 1/2 cup to every u.s. gallon, and i dont want my salinity to go up so that would be 2.5 cups normally but i want the salinity down again lol so how many cups should i take away from adding like 2 cups
it will be brought up to the same temp as the tank, wow im really confused and i dont want to make a mistake, can anyone help as soon as possible i wnna try and do it tonight....
