Water/algae Emergeny?

Been having a pretty rapid bloom of diatoms and then green algae. Did a 30% water change today but the water is still full of algae "threads" floating through the water column. Is there any way to clear this up? Do I have to a greater % of water change? Any specific filters or treatments?

This is all in a RedSexMax with PolyFilter, carbon, LV filtering and sand.

Think so, when it's floating at the top of the tank surface it looks like one of the more spherical forms. How do I filter it/get rid of it all?

Are there any additive treatments that can knock the gunk out? Something like UltraLife Blue/Green remover and UltraLife Red Slime Remover? Maybe Boyd's Chemi-Clean? Where can I get these in the UK?
